The full pattern
A participle first means an action already finished. Its ending depends on the verb.

Not with avere verbs that have no object: dopo aver lavorato, never lavorato tutto il giorno.
After aver, no agreement with an object that follows: dopo aver visto la mostra, but vista la mostra.
-ing adjectives take -ante/-ente; -ed adjectives are the past participle: interessante, interessato.
