Usage notes
- Months are not capitalized in Italian: agosto, not Agosto, except at the start of a sentence.
- Use in + month for general time: in agosto. Use ad agosto before a vowel sound in the next word less often; nel mese di agosto is more formal.
- With dates, say il 15 agosto for August 15th. Italians often omit the year unless needed.
