Less common · Top 5,000

Meaning

very well

  • perfectly
  • great

In a sentence

Oggi sto benissimo, grazie per aver chiesto.

Today I'm feeling great, thanks for asking.

Hai capito benissimo quello che volevo dire?

Did you understand perfectly what I meant?

Ieri è andato tutto benissimo alla festa.

Yesterday everything went very well at the party.

Usage notes

  • Stronger than bene: use benissimo for emphasis, like “very well” or “great,” not as the neutral default in every context.
  • Common as a standalone reply: Benissimo! sounds enthusiastic or approving; in some situations it can sound theatrical or overly emphatic.
  • As an adverb, it never agrees: parlare benissimo, stare benissimo. Don’t confuse it with buonissimo, which describes nouns.
