Usage notes
- Use egoismo for a negative trait. Egocentrismo is self-centeredness; individualismo can be neutral or positive.
- Common with mostrare, dimostrare, accusare di, and per egoismo. Less natural for temporary selfish acts than essere egoista.
- Usually uncountable: molto egoismo, un atto di egoismo. Avoid plural except in literary or rhetorical contexts.
