Usage notes
- Use insegnante for any teacher, male or female. The article shows gender: l'insegnante can be either; un/una insegnante makes it clear.
- Professore/professoressa is common for secondary-school and university teachers; insegnante is broader and fits primary school especially well.
- Don't confuse insegnante with maestro/maestra: maestro often means primary-school teacher, but also music teacher or master in an art.
