Usage notes
- In modern Italian, seggio is most common in politics: parliamentary seats or polling stations. For an ordinary chair or seat, use sedia or posto.
- At elections, seggio often means the polling station or polling board. Don't confuse it with sede, which means headquarters or location.
- Seggio is more formal/institutional than posto. You win, lose, or hold un seggio in parliament, not usually in casual contexts.
