Usage notes
- Use trasportare for moving people or things, especially physically or logistically; portare is broader and more common for simply taking something somewhere.
- For vehicles, Italians often prefer guidare or portare in macchina; trasportare sounds more like carrying passengers or cargo than personally driving.
- It usually takes avere in compound tenses: ho trasportato i mobili. Passive is common in logistics: merci trasportate via treno.
