- Use liceo for the academic Italian high-school track. scuola superiore is broader and includes technical and vocational schools too.
- Usually say al liceo for attending high school: Vado al liceo. Don’t translate English “lyceum” literally in non-Italian contexts.
- Specific types are common: liceo classico, scientifico, linguistico, artistico. Italians often mention the type, not just liceo.
