- For window coverings, tenda is the general word. Tapparella means rolling shutter; persiana means shutter; veneziana means Venetian blind.
- For camping, use andare in tenda or dormire in tenda. In una tenda often means inside a tent, not the activity generally.
- Usually feminine: la tenda, le tende. With windows, Italians often use the plural tende even for one room's curtains.
