- Use cronaca for factual reporting of recent events; not for a long historical narrative, where storia or resoconto often fits better.
- In newspapers, cronaca often names a section: cronaca locale, cronaca nera, cronaca sportiva. It is more journalistic than notizia.
- Commentary sense is limited and context-dependent; for opinion or analysis, commento is usually safer.
