Usage notes
- Use ammettere for confessing or acknowledging facts; confessare is more personal or moral, riconoscere often means recognizing or admitting reluctantly.
- For allowing entry or participation, prefer consentire, permettere, or ammettere a. Ammettere alone often means admit/acknowledge, not simply allow.
- With avere as auxiliary: ho ammesso. Common patterns: ammettere che + clause, ammettere di + infinitive, ammettere qualcuno a/in + noun.
- past participle ammesso
