Usage notes
- For a school desk, banco is standard. Scrivania means an office/writing desk, not the student desk in a classroom.
- At shops and bars, banco often means the service counter. In a bank, sportello is the teller window; banco sounds broader or institutional.
- Don’t confuse banco with panca: panca is a bench for sitting; banco is a work surface, school desk, or sales counter.
