Notas de uso
- For a costume or medical face covering, use maschera. Mascherina usually means a small mask, especially surgical or protective.
- In figurative use, portare una maschera means hiding your true self. Facciata is closer to public image or outward appearance.
- Maschera is feminine: la maschera, le maschere. Don’t confuse it with il maschero, which is not standard Italian.
