Notas de uso
- More formal and elevated than rispettare. Use onorare for ceremonies, memory, commitments, or values; not for everyday politeness.
- Common with abstract or solemn objects: onorare la memoria, onorare un impegno. For religious contexts, venerare often sounds more specific.
- Regular -are verb; takes avere in compound tenses: ho onorato, non *sono onorato when you mean the action.
