- Use registro for official records: registro delle presenze, registro di classe. For a generic notebook, say quaderno or agenda instead.
- In schools, il registro often means the teacher’s grade/attendance book, now often digital: registro elettronico.
- For language style, registro also means level of formality: registro formale/informale. Don’t confuse this with registrazione.
