Notas de uso
- Mostly formal and bureaucratic. In everyday speech, Italians often prefer dimostrare, provare, or confermare depending on context.
- Common in documents: attestare che..., attestare l'autenticità, attestare la presenza. It sounds stiff in casual conversation.
- With the meaning 'to certify,' it usually takes a direct object, not a + infinitive. Say attestare un fatto, not usually attestare a fare.
