Notas de uso
- For people arriving early, Italians often prefer arrivare in anticipo; anticipare is more common for moving times, dates, or actions earlier.
- Anticipare qualcosa means move it earlier; posticipare or rimandare means delay it. Learners often confuse these opposites.
- With direct objects, use avere in compound tenses: ho anticipato la riunione. For intransitive use about arriving early, essere may appear: sono anticipato.
